Community Shares – how communities can raise capital to buy a building

The Right to Bid allows communities to pause the sale of buildings or land they care about such as a local pub, shop, library or football ground. It gives a community group time to develop a bid to buy it. It is important to nominate land and buildings to be part of a register of ‘assets of community value’. If something on this register is offered for sale, you then have up to six months to prepare a bid.
