Alrewas wins 2nd Round

Despite the Case Officer recommending approval and also belittling the Neighbourhood Plan, the Planning Committee demonstrated that democracy lives in Lichfield by rejecting Lioncourt's application to build 121 houses on a site north of Dark Lane - the vote was 7 to 2 in favour of rejection.

The application was a trimming down of a previous version 12 months ago for 140 houses - that was rejected unanimously. Subsequently, the developers appealed against Lichfield's rejection; that appeal starts on July 7th and might take as long as 6 days to determine.

Meanwhile, the Alrewas Neighbourhood Plan has progressed through the 6 week pre-Examination consultation held by Lichfield Planning and an Examiner has been agreed. This despite the rather surprising claim of Lichfield Planning that the Neighbourhood Plan couldn't be considered as material consideration in the above planning application on the grounds that it wasn't supported by an SEA (Strategic Environment Assessment).
